28 Aug Tourney preview: A Military Tribute at The Greenbriar
Next on the PGA Tour schedule is A Military Tribute At The Greenbriar, played at The Old White TPC Course in White Sulpher Springs, West Virginia. The tournament gets underway on Sept 9 and runs through Sept 15.
Kevin Na comes in as the defending champion last year, after finishing 19-under-par, five-strokes ahead of Kelly Kraft, the runner-up.
The Old White Course first hosted the Innagural Green Briar Classic in 2010 with big names like Sergio Garcia, John Daly, among others participating — just a year before the course became part of TPC family in 2011.
The course’s stand-out hole is the par No. 8, modeled after several other famous holes like the “Redan,” at North Berwick, the “Alps,” at Prestwick and the “Eden,” at St. Andrews.
A few of the high-profile golfers planning to play in the tournament in 2019 include Bryson DeChambeau, Zach Johnson, Bubba Watson, and Jason Duffner
White Sulpher Springs and the surrounding area have plenty of great courses worth checking out — like Virginia Tech’s course, as it was designed by Pete Dye. Other highly rated courses are available for booking through Supreme Golf.
